Just before the pandemic hit the UK in 2020, I took a few minutes to consider the year ahead. This image was taken in February when news was spreading about COVID-19 but seemed far away. The first few weeks of 2020 were very busy for me and my work, I hardly had time to think. I took three images and this was the last of them, the light looked nice and my expression was the one I wanted to show. As you will see from my other images, I don’t do portraits of anyone except myself. But maybe I could change!
Early morning at Deene Park, the mist has just lifted exposing the cold winter landscape, but as I journey away I look back to see this view. A few moments later the view had dissapeared under another blanket of mist.
I’d seen an advert on TV promoting places in my part of the UK and had to go and see for myself. Just over an hour away, I managed to leave straight form work on a Friday in early May, arriving just before sunset. The light was fantastic and let me take this shot of the old boat nestling next to a (hidden) coal house.
Back at Deene Park, this time beautiful misty conditions as the sun shone through, gently lighting the cool morning air
One of my favourite locations which is just 15 monte
A beautiful evening at Cromer Pier capturing the fading light after sunset.
I really like this location, only visiting twice but the joy of wandering the open fields and water which runs through it. To capture a scene which could have been taken 200 years ago brings me deep happiness.
My first landscape image of 2019 on the coldest morning of winter. The water was frozen and the ground firm but a clear sky gave me a beautiful scene once again at a favourite venue.
One other tog was there and I don’t mind including him as the image as we both went about our merry way.
A lightning image has been on my wish list for years, not the exact one shown, but the type of image with lightning surrounding a focal point of interest. Stevington Windmill was selected as the focal point after advanced notice of storms and their expected route meant we could be lucky. Along with fellow photographer Kevin Davis, we spent over an hour getting soaked as the middle of the storm sat right over us before slowing dying out. Interesting note, from the 100 images taken, this was only the first image proper taken after setting focus and lighting.
Back at Lyveden for a second visit, this time at the right spot for sunrise. Gentle mist rising from the lake, gates and fencing, damp grass all help enhance this wondrous moment.
This is Lyveden New Bield a wonderful location with plenty of phtographic opportunities, although I will suggest first light for the best results.
A beautiful wood very close to my home and my heart, the Autumn colours shine as the sun breaks through for a few moments.
Spotted this tree from searching through Flickr and maps found it, just 20 mins away and 2 from the Mill picture. Waiting patiently for sunset, the cows came down from the field for a drink before heading off for the night. Looks better with cattle I think..
Three Shire Head is a wonderful location, I visited for the first time in 2017 and had the place to myself for 3 hours.
